  • File Viewers

iFile allows you to view a number of file formats with specificviewers. All viewers - apart from the built-in movie player and iFile's music player -work in portrait and landscape mode.

    Movies

The following movie formats are supported by iFile:

    • mov, mp4, mpv, m4v, 3gp

Movie files get played using the iPhoneOS Multimedia Player.

    Music

The following sound formats are supported by iFile:

    • aac, aiff, aif, aifc, amr, alac, caf, m4a, m4r, mp2, mp3, mpga, pcm, snd, wav, wma

The music player has a user interface similiar to the one ofthe built-in iPod player. Album cover art will be read from m4a files directly orfrom a cover.jpg or folder.jpg contained in the associated folder of an audio file.

It allows to play playlists in m3u format and files from a directory. It will even play files found with iFile's file searchfunctionality.

    PDF

For viewing PDF's a custom viewer is available in iFile thatallows to go to next and previous page and to directly jumpto a specific page by pressing the  button. The viewer allows very large zoom scales.

The associated alert form will allow you to enter a valid pagenumber of the PDF document to display.

With a single tap on the PDF document the viewer will hide thenavigation and status bar. With a double tap the viewer will zoom in or out byfactor 2.

    Text

For viewing and editing text a specific view is used that uses a smaller fontthan the one used by a web view. This allows to better view sourcecode files. The text viewer allows to read and write multiple text filetypes including HTML and property list (plist) files. Property list filesare supported in XML and binary format. When text files contain tabulators, the tabulators will be replaced with spaces during reading and vice versaduring writing. Otherwise, iPhoneOS' UITextView would just swallow thetabulators. The tabulator width can be set in iFile's preferences dialog.Text files are always read in with UTF-8 encoding. Only if this failsthey get read with ISO-Latin encoding.

With a tap on the viewer will hide the navigation and status bar. If you tap atthe itwill show the bars again. By pressing the you will be able to search for a text entered in the search field. The viewerwill then scroll the visible area to the found text.

    Word, Excel, Powerpoint, HTML

As in Mobile Safari you can view any Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and also any HTML file using the iPhoneOS Web View.

With a single tap on the document the viewer will hide thenavigation and tool bar.

    Images

Images get displayed zoomed to 100% screen width with possibilityto further zoom in. You can go to the next and previous image in thesame folder as the current image. If you press the button, the current image will be added to the iPhone's camera roll.

    ZIP

With the ZIP viewer you can view and use the content of a ZIPfile. The viewer shows you all files including stored directory names. If you want to remove selected files from the ZIP, just press thebutton and confirm. To extract all files (nothing selected) or selected files, press thebutton and confirm.
